WiseBooks Wise Owl Exhibition

Earlier this year I submitted a piece to an owl themed exhibition for Wise Books in Seaford, Sussex.

The exhibition featured many talented illustrators including some award winning children's book illustrators and writers.

Wise books is a second bookshop raising funds for FSW Family Support Work, a local charity

which helps families coping with bereavement, poverty, mental health issues and unemployment.

I think there are plans for them to host more themed exhibitions in the future.

And so with the new year underway, I set course for pastures new further south. Leaving behind my native homeland of Cumbria and travelling down to my birthplace of Manchester.

Halloween Owl Masks

Well I hope everyone had an amazing and spooky Halloween this year!

The feedback for my downloadable owl masks was tremendous. I was amazed by the variety of different sites they ended up being featured on; from design blogs, to biker bar websites, to a message board for breast feeding! Ready made masks were also sent out as far as Edinburgh and Texas.

Here are some photos from other people's masks sent in to me:

Jane Bowyer customised her mask with quotes from the poem The Owl and the Pussycat by using white pencil on purple sugar paper.

Sarah Swanton took a digital approach and created this very autumnal owl mask.

Andrea Courchene from Paper Sparrow cleverly customised her mask to match her outfit. (Also check out those fantastic owl broaches!)

A huge thank you to everyone who featured or recommended my masks, and to those who made them. I hope you had as much fun with this give-away as I did.

Sad owl is sad and other announcements

We didn't win Merch Asylum's competition. A huge thank you to everyone who took part though, it was very much appreciated.

But I also have some good news!

I am still looking into getting the "Long Live the King" shirt printed, and should have them available to purchase at a very reasonable price sometime in the next month.

There is also a special Halloween give-away lined up for next month so keep your peepers peeled this October!
